London

I visited two advertising agencies during the trip to London.

The first visit was on tuesday to Inferno. - http://www.inferno-group.com

We were given a talk and shown some of the work they do. He showed us one of the latest campaigns that was being worked on, Nokia Lumia. He also told us about a website he helps to run, the Young Creative Council. http://www.youngcreativecouncil.com/

Then on Wednesday we visited Euro RSCG. - http://www.eurorscglondon.co.uk/

We were given a brief by George to create ideas for one of three products; Loctite Super Glue, Flora extra light or HP Seriously hot tabasco chilli and honey sauce. I looked at the Flora and the HP sauce before deciding to focus on the HP sauce.

Here are some examples of the ideas I came up with...

As we only had an hour, most of these ideas were pretty obvious. With more time, i'm sure my ideas would have been more interesting. It seemed very busy in the agency, we were made to move rooms and George took a lot longer than he said to come back to see us.

I had a lot of fun in London. I visit London a fair bit (in fact I'm going in about 3 weeks with my friend to watch a new Advertising based comedy panel show at the BBC centre) so it was fun going around with people who'd never been and take them to places like Big Ben, the London Eye, Trafalgar Square, Embankment, Camden ect... In Camden, we found a shop called Cyberdog which was full of flouorescent, light up things to buy. This made me think of Alight!

I also met up with a friend on the Wednesday afternoon who goes to Uni just outside of London and we went to the War Horse Exhibition at the National Army Museum which was very interesting.

Here are some things I found in London. Even though we're not allowed to make the campaign directly related to the Olympics, it still relates to the project.

I wouldn't mind working in London when I am older. Luckily where I live is commutable to London because I don't think i'd want to actually live there!

I'm really glad I went on this trip because visiting the agencies has made me realise that a job in advertising probably isn't for me. I want to be a designer, not a creative. Just wish I realised this a bit early, but better late than never!
