Over Christmas, I created some light drawings using some musical instruments I have at home to trace around. It was quite hard to get it looking realistic, getting the lines straight etc... but I am pleased with the final outcomes. Here are a selection of some of the best ones.
Unfortunately, my brothers electric drum kit doesn't really look like a proper drum kit and due to all the detail, it was too hard to create into a decent light drawing.
I think light drawings work best when they are quite simple but the shape of the object is very obvious. That is why I think the acoustic guitar works better than something like the keyboard.
It was quite difficult getting the shapes smooth and consistent - like the drums. However, when I did manage to get a smooth outline to the instruments the effect was just how I wanted it. You have to slow down to try and to get the shape exactly right, but the slower you do it, the more the camera is exposed to the light making the image a bit blurry, so you have to get the balance just right.
